Packed up...

Stripped Action Zone bars

Spent last weekend stripping my second set of Action Zone bars down to the bare metal. Got to say the brazed welds are gorgeous. Almost sad they get lost under powdered coat or chrome...

Anyway, some minor work needed on them as there's a small ding on the crossbar. Nothing major, but I'll get a welder to fill it out and smooth them back to normal.

Packed up for powder

Well I've decided to restore the Haro too, so it's all packed up to be sent off for powder coating. Off to SuperBikeDan again :)

Dia Compe Nippon

Well I finally got around to outlining the Dia Compe Nippon text on the calipers using a fine point black Sharpie Oil Paint pen. So it will be nice and permanent :)

A quick reminder of the original state

btw, I guess the Sharpie definition of fine isn't the same as mine...

Half done, Nippon polished out, "Dia Compe" over filled but unfinished...

Turned out ok, but trickier than when they were raw polished.

(Sorry for the dodgy iPhone photos)

Odyssey Gyro

I managed to get a Gyro friendly Epoch headset, so it looks like I'll be running the Gyro on the build.

Also all the parts are currently homeward bound, should be with me by the end of the week. :)

Powder coating

The frame and forks are being powdered this week. Heard back that the Araya Aeros turned out near perfect. That was probably my biggest concern, since one of the rims had a few deep marks.

Hopefully everything should be completed and shipped out this week. First thing after that will be lacing of the rims to the GT hubs. Still need to calculate the spoke length...

Packed up and posted!

Just posted all the bits that I want powdered to SBD... aka PWS Finishing Ltd. in England.

Mostly a mix of GT green and white bits.

GT Green
  • GT Performer frame
  • GT Performer forks
  • GT stem
  • GT powerdisk

GT white
  • Sugino sprocket
  • GT seat clamp
  • Dia Compe Nippon brakes
  • GT Epoch dustcover
  • GT frame standers
  • GT fork standers
  • Araya Aero rims

Should look very very different when it all comes home again!

Packing up the frame

Geting the frame ready to post to SuperBikeDan. All lagged up and ready for winter posting!

Still to box up but somewhere under that is my GT Performer.
