"30 Years of Freestyle"
Just paid for my 30th Anniversary Haro Freestyler. So at least one of the 300 made (#272/300) is on it's way to Sweden. I heard there's a couple of more guys here that had there name down for one, but havent heard if they completed yet. (There's a 48 hour window to go for it)
It's going to make a rather cool Xmas present to myself and with the arrival of my first child in January I imagine the BMX related spending will quite quickly be put on hold for the next 18-20 years :)
I imagine most of these will never be built up, let alone ridden in anger... still unsure what to do with #272.

Group 1 decals
Cleaned up the cranks as best I could today and applied the new green decals.
Not 100% sure on them... might still go with the normal blue ones.

Packed up for powder
Well I've decided to restore the Haro too, so it's all packed up to be sent off for powder coating. Off to SuperBikeDan again :)

Haro Fork Standers
Just finished cleaning up the fork standers. The decals needed replaced as they were torn and worn, but I'd planned to use customer green/blue decals on them any way.

Green gyro cables
Odyssey Gyro gen 1 cables in any other colour than black or white are an absolute nightmare to find. Modern coloured cables such as Odyssey gen 3 or those from Savage tend to have black bodies with coloured cables. Which in my mind stands out like a sore thumb on an old school build.
These are the Savage Gyro cables. Cheap compared to the price of an 80's original.
I'm lucky enough to have a set of green Odyssey Gen 1 cables but don't want to risk snapping them so I figured I'd have a go at painting the black bodies of my Savage cables neon green and keep the Odyssey cables "for show, not go".
First I taped off everything except the bodies and sanded down the black and sprayed white primer on them.
After the primer was dry two further coats, one neon green followed by clear lacquer.
An hour later, tape removed and the finished cable. First beside an unpainted green Savage gyro cable.
And beside an original Odyssey Gen 1 Gyro cable:

White A'me Rounds Bubble Font
Picked up a pair of white A'me Rounds today. Not NOS, but it a great used condition... I'd give them an 8-9 out of 10.
No heavy use and the end are undamaged.

RL Edge hub
I really would like an RL Edge hub... they look quite funky and a free coaster is always nice to have.
In anycase here's the Mechanics Guide for the RL Edge

Odyssey Gyro with Hatta MX-10
I'd heard but (not seen) that the Hatta MX-10 and a Gyro wasn't possible. However I tried the combination and everything seems fine :-)

Haro build
Just built up the Haro tonight just to see how it will look when it's finished.
The problem now is that I don't know whether to go for another restoration job or keep it survivor....

Dia-Compe Nippons
Finished up the Nippons tonight and they turned out great.
Here's how the calipers started out:
The Sharpie paint pen did the trick again. One thing I noticed this time, was when I used the black Sharpie on my white Nippons, only one coat of black paint was needed, but with the white pen, 2-3 coats was needed to give a solid white over the green.
The photo doesn't show how bright the fluro green is!

Green Dia Compe Nippons
The Dia Compe Nippons finally arrived with me today, powdered fluorescent green... They look even better and brighter in reality.
I'm currently doing the inlay work, which will be done in the same way as before but this time using a white Sharpie.
Should have some more photos tomorrow of the inlay work completed.

Wheelset
One other change of plan was the wheelset. Originally I'd planned to use a set of GT Superlace hubs on Araya Aeros, much like what's on my Performer.
Well now it looks like its going to be Peregrine 48s.

Del-cals decals
Once again Del-Cals.co.uk came through with the decals for the build, even some non standard ones.
First up some standard 1986 Haro Master decals for the frame, fork and bars.
Then the custom stuff... Since this will be a very green/white build, I thought a nice touch would be to redo the Haro Group 1 decals in green instead of blue and have the fork decals made in green/blue instead of the normal red blue.
Turned out nicer than expected :)
Definately look to Del-Cals.co.uk if you need decal work done.

Group 1 Stem
Picked up a Haro Group 1 stem for the build. Anlun stamped but not green which is what it will end up being. It's fairly clean, rust bolt and some minor marks on the stem bolt, but it's complete even with the plastic rotor plug, so it's a nice base to start with.
A strip and a polish and it now looks like this
Next stage of to SBD for some fluro Haro green on the top cap :)

A'me Grip Repair/Restoration
In my search for the A'me grips I managed to find a second set, but unfortunately on of the end was damaged through usage.
The rest of the grips were in great condition do I figured I'd have a first try at grip repair. I used a hot knife and soldering iron. Far from perfect but certainly better than before.
Before:
After:
This makes three pairs of green bubble font A'me Tri's and interestingly enough is that each pair is different.
This pair actually has A'me twice on the flange, the other two pairs only once. and one grip on the other pair has the A'me so that the Triangle points downward. Must stick some photos up of the differences later on.
